300,000 people applied to take part in the 1981 Camel Trophy, with only 10 Germans eventually being given the opportunity to wrestle a fleet of Range Rovers through the treacherous terrain of Sumatra, with West German pairing of Christian Swoboda and Knuth Mentel winning the battle through the jungle.
